Puerto Vallarta

Puerto Vallarta is full of Old World charm, set against a background of lush tropical vegetation and the Sierra Madre Mountains. Stroll along the Malecón lined with outdoor sculptures, cafés, and nightclubs. Explore the lush tropical jungle, a refuge for hundreds of species of birds and orchids. Los Cabos

The twenty-mile seacoast corridor known as Los Cabos (the Capes) is situated at the southern tip of Mexico’s Baja California peninsula. At the southernmost tip of the peninsula, Cabo San Lucas is abuzz 24/7 with shops, restaurants, nightclubs, a marina, and mariachis. Take a boat ride to the rock formation known as El Arco—it marks the spot where the Pacific meets the Sea of Cortés.

Los Cabos boasts five championship golf courses and it’s a popular destination for sport fishing due to deep-water canyons at the mouth of Cabo San Lucas Harbor and the Sea of Cortés waters. However you define getting away from it all—rock climbing, snorkeling, relaxing on the beach, or soaking up local culture—Los Cabos is ready with a world of possibilities.

Riviera Maya

On the eastern side of Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula is the area known as the Mayan Riviera. Cancun is here, and just south is trendy Playa del Carmen, with its famed Fifth Avenue shopping promenade. Take the ferry to Cozumel, for old world Mexican charm and access to the Palancar Reef, the second largest reef system in the world.

Deep-sea fishing is spectacular in these turquoise waters and water sports include windsurfing, scuba diving, jet skiing, snorkeling, sailing, and water-skiing. Visit Mayan ruins nestled in the jungle at Coba or overlooking the Caribbean at Tulum, and explore the eco-theme parks at Xel-Ha and Xcaret. Plan a day trip to Chichen Itza, a sacred site of the ancient Mayans.

Buenos Aires & Iguazu Falls

Buenos Aires, Argentina is the most European of any city in South America, both in lifestyle and in its architecture. The city's neighborhoods are small, each with its own character and colors. Stroll through La Boca and San Telmo, catch a street-side tango performance, and explore the Recoleta cemetery, with its art deco and Art Nouveau monuments. A day trip to a gaucho ranch outside the city includes horseback riding and a traditional parrillada barbecue, plus a performance of folk song and dance.

Iguazu Falls is one of the most jaw-dropping sights on the planet. Located on the border of Brazil and Argentina, this natural wonder is comprised of 275 individual waterfalls. Special walkways have been built around the falls so you can get close. A long pathway along the canyon (on the Brazilian side of the falls) is complemented by helicopter trips over the water to allow a completely uninterrupted experience of the splendor of Iguazu.

Costa Rica

Costa Rica boasts 210 species of mammals, around 878 species of birds, and 218 of reptiles; 800 miles of coastline; and year-round average temperatures in the 70s. Go hiking in rain forests, laze on a golden beach, and get closer than you ever imagined to the country’s extraordinary wildlife—from colorful butterflies and frogs to four types of monkeys, sloths, jaguars and tapirs. A volcanic mountain chain runs down the spine of Costa Rica, creating a wonderland of cones, craters, lagoons, boiling mud pools, and hot springs. The vast coastline means superlative snorkeling and diving. Panama City & The Panama Canal

Bordered by the Caribbean on the north, the Pacific on the south, Columbia on the east, and Costa Rica on the west, Panama is a natural crossroads. Panama City was founded in 1519 and made wealthy by the plundered treasures of Peru. Evidence of its turbulent history can be seen in the city's historic districts, but the modern Panama City of soaring glass skyscrapers is its most striking feature. On its doorstep are dense rainforests and the eighth wonder of the modern world, the Panama Canal. Visit the Miraflores locks to watch enormous ships pass by, or make a short transit through the locks to Gatun Lake. Excursions into the rainforest take you to a village of the Embera tribe for lunch, a dance ceremony, and a display of tribal crafts.

Reykjavik & Copenhagen

The sagas of the Vikings were written in Iceland, a land of glaciers, geysers, and erupting volcanoes, where nature’s geological processes play out before your eyes. Its capital, Reykjavik, is pollution-free and buildings and swimming pools are heated by geothermal water. Take the Golden Circle tour to see Gullfoss waterfall and the Geysir geothermal area, and walk on the Continental Divide at Thingvellir National Park.

The Kingdom of Denmark consists of the peninsula of Jutland and an archipelago of 474 islands. Home to one of the oldest monarchies in the world, its history is rooted in the Viking Age. The capital is Copenhagen—Denmark's cultural center—with cobblestone streets and royal palaces as a backdrop to daily life in this small modern city.

Munich & Salzburg

Located within eyeshot of the snowcapped Alps, Munich is a city of broad boulevards and baroque facades. Founded in 1158 on the River Isar, it acquired its name (home of the monks), from its first monastery, where the beer brewing tradition began. Beer has been served at the world-famous Hofbräuhaus since it became a royal brewery in 1605. There’s an air of jollity and conviviality, and the beer flows freely to the strains of Bavarian oompah music and songs.

The Sound of Music was filmed in Salzburg, and a popular tour takes you to the film's iconic sites. Wander around the pretty gardens and trick fountains of Schloss Hellbrunn. Shop for treasures on Getreidegasse and visit the house where Mozart was born. Don’t miss Fürsterzbischöfliche Hofapotheke, the oldest pharmacy in Salzburg, opened in 1588.

Edinburgh & Scottish Lakes

Just north of Glasgow, The Trossachs National Park encompasses 21 Munros (mountains above 3,000 feet), enchanted forests, and sparkling Loch Lomond, the largest freshwater lake in Great Britain. Nearby are verdant golf courses and the Culloden Battlefield, with its haunting clan stones.

In Edinburgh, an ancient castle looms over the Old Town at the head of the Royal Mile, which stretches to the Palace of Holyroodhouse, the official residence of the Queen when she's in town. The Royal Mile is lined with cobblestone alleyways, boutiques, pubs, and restaurants in 400-year-old buildings. The New Town is a model of 18th-century elegance.

Amsterdam, The Netherlands: Begin with a scenic canal cruise through the city.

Cologne, Germany: Rebuilt from the original plans after WWII, Cologne retains its charm, with a river walk for strolling, pretty beer gardens, and the monumental Gothic cathedral.

Rudesheim, Germany: Join a Rheingau winetasting tour, ride on the gondola, and shop for treasures along the Drosselgasse.

Speyer, Germany: It’s the gateway to Heidelberg, a storybook town made up of ancient, medieval, and modern architecture, surrounded by natural beauty, and with the ramparts of Heidelberg Castle 300 feet overhead.

Strasbourg, France: Wander the lanes of Le Petit France on your own, or take a guided tour on foot or on a bike.

Breisach, Germany: Visit Europe’s largest wine cellar, or go to Freiberg, to see its sandstone Gothic cathedral.

Portugal’s Douro River

Day 1 Porto, Portugal: Embarkation.

Day 2 Porto – Régua, Portugal: Port wine tasting and views of terraced vineyards.

Day 3 Régua – Barca d’Alva, Portugal: Lamego and the rugged scenery of the Douro gorges.

Day 4 Salamanca, Spain – Vega de Terrón, Portugal: Salamanca and flamenco!

Day 5 Vega de Terrón – Pinhão, Portugal: Figueira de Castelo Rodrigo, a 16th-century fortified village.

Bratislava, Slovakia: The pedestrian-only, 18th-century old town is known for its lively bars and cafes. It’s surrounded by vineyards and the Little Carpathian Mountains, crisscrossed with forested hiking and cycling trails.

Budapest, Hungary: Visit Buda Castle, the Fisherman’s Bastion, the Royal Palace, St. Stephen’s Basilica, and Heroes’ Square.

U.S. Virgin Islands

A territory of the United States of America since 1917, the United States Virgin Islands is an archipelago comprised of three principal islands—St. Croix, St. John, and St. Thomas—plus 50 smaller islands, cays, and islets. The flags of seven different nations have flown over these islands, leaving their distinct imprint on the people and culture.

From world class diving, deep sea fishing, sailing, snorkeling, kayaking, and paddle boarding to windsurfing and jet skiing, there is an abundance of exhilarating ways to get on and in the water. Jamaica

Nassau

The fine harbor of Nassau lies on the 21-mile long island of New Providence. In 1718, Great Britain declared The Islands of The Bahamas a crown colony and appointed former privateer Woodes Rogers the first Royal Governor. Rogers flushed out the pirates, restored law and order, and built Fort Nassau.
